The Sindh government has approved the requests of 63 Sub-Registrars in the Revenue Department who declined promotion from Grade 15 to Grade 17.

The officials were eligible to be promoted to Grade 17 positions, which would have made them gazetted officers and entitled them to higher salaries and allowances. However, all 63 officials reportedly chose to remain in their existing Grade 15 positions.

The unusual decision has raised questions, particularly because the officials would have received financial benefits through the promotion.

The Sub-Registrars reportedly submitted requests to the Revenue Department stating that they were satisfied with their current Grade 15 positions.

According to the report, the Sub-Registrar post is considered an important position within the Revenue Department. The officials continue to serve in these posts despite declining the opportunity for higher grades, salaries and allowances.

The decision has attracted attention because Sub-Registrars are responsible for property registration and related official matters, making their positions significant within the department.

The report also raised concerns about why such a large number of officials would voluntarily surrender a promotion despite the associated financial and official benefits. It suggested that the matter warrants further scrutiny and investigation by the relevant authorities.

The Sindh government has, however, accepted the requests submitted by the 63 Sub-Registrars, allowing them to remain in Grade 15.
