Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has given orders to start a campaign to check public transport safety arrangements.
Transporters have been given a deadline of one month to install fire extinguishers in buses, coasters and school vans and a strict checking campaign is to be started soon.
“The safety of passengers should be the priority of the transporters,” Memon said while adding that Due to the irresponsibility of transporters and lack of awareness among drivers in how to deal with emergency situations, hundreds of precious lives are lost in tragic accidents.
The minister said that the permits of transporters who violate motor vehicle registration rules should be cancelled he also notified that CNG cylinders should be removed from all vehicles.
