Today has been marked nationwide as Police Martyrs’ Day to honour police officers who have sacrificed their lives for the safety and stability of the nation.
Provincial governments have made compensation offers to martyrs’ heirs in an effort to help them pay for their children’s education.
On the fifth anniversary of the passing of Shaheed Safoot Ghayur, the Frontier Constabulary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police commandant who was killed in a suicide attack on his car on August 4, 2010, the Martyrs Day was first set up.
At the provincial and district levels, special events are arranged to highlight the police force’s capabilities.
