The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that temperatures in Karachi may rise sharply toward the end of March, raising concerns about an unusual heatwave in the city.
According to the department, rainfall across the country is expected to remain below normal during March 2026.

As a result, temperatures are likely to stay higher than usual, which could lead to heatwave conditions in several parts of the country.
The weather body also stated that rising temperatures may reduce the number of mosquitoes in provinces including Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.
Experts further noted that higher temperatures could cause Rabi crops to mature earlier than expected this season.

However, limited rainfall may reduce the availability of soil moisture, which is essential for the healthy growth of these crops.
The dry weather and warm conditions are also expected to help farmers dry and store rice after harvest more easily.
Meanwhile, the PMD has predicted that the pollen season may begin in the first week of March in cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
