The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, visited NIPA Chowrangi in Karachi on April 24, 2024, to review progress on the K-IV Augmentation Project and the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit Red Line Project.
He directed authorities to speed up work and immediately resolve issues causing traffic congestion in the area. During the visit, the chief minister expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of the K-IV Augmentation scheme.

He said the 2.7-kilometre project is crucial for improving water supply to Karachi and must be completed without further delay.
He instructed the administration and police to assist the Water Department in removing hurdles and ensuring timely completion.

While reviewing the BRT Red Line Project, officials informed him that a provisional payment of Rs 4.8 billion to contractors had improved the pace of construction.

The chief minister ordered that mixed traffic lanes be completed by May 2026. He also directed faster progress on key stretches, including Tank Chowk to Safoora, Hasan Square to Jail Chowrangi, and work on the King Cottage Flyover and Hydrant Underpass.
The chief minister also inspected the Malir Halt Depot, where construction began on January 15, 2026, with a target completion date of January 2027.
He was informed that the provincial cabinet had approved funding for the depot’s access road. He further reviewed development work on the 18-acre former Aladdin Park land, which has been leased for depot construction. Work on both depots is now underway.
He directed all concerned departments to maintain quality standards while ensuring projects are completed on time.

The chief minister said the Red Line project would bring major improvements to Karachi’s public transport system and stressed that reducing inconvenience to citizens remains the government’s top priority.
The K-IV project is designed to enhance Karachi’s water supply capacity, addressing long-standing shortages in the city.
Meanwhile, the BRT Red Line is part of a broader urban transport plan aimed at providing modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport to residents.
