The Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police has placed Karachi on high alert following fresh intelligence reports about potential security threats.
According to local media, the IG chaired a high-level meeting in Karachi to review the overall law and order situation and assess recent intelligence inputs.

Officials said the meeting discussed security concerns in light of recent cross-border developments and reviewed protection measures for sensitive government and private installations across the city.
Media reports suggested that the intelligence agencies highlighted possible terrorist threats and vulnerabilities on both internal and external routes. The IG directed authorities to further strengthen security at all entry and exit points of Karachi.
Security on high alert amid terrorism threat in Karachi
He ordered that a Quick Response Force (QRF) in every district remain on high alert around the clock. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch were instructed to ensure timely intelligence sharing with district police to enable swift action.
Senior officers have been directed to personally inspect sensitive locations and remain present in the field. The IG also made daily general hold-ups and snap checking mandatory twice a day to enhance vigilance.

In addition, the IG stressed the need to speed up operations against beggars and street crime to maintain public order in Karachi. Officials said these steps are aimed at preventing any potential security breach and ensuring the safety of citizens as well as critical infrastructure.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Sindh Police to proactively respond to threats and maintain peace and stability in Karachi.
