Gas supply remained suspended in multiple areas of Karachi during Sunday’s Iftar timings, causing difficulties for hundreds of residents preparing meals during the holy month of Ramadan.

Affected areas included Korangi, Jamshed Road, Bihar Colony, North Karachi, Liaquatabad, and other parts of the city.

Citizens in areas with active gas supply also complained about low gas pressure, making it challenging to cook for Iftar.

Gas and Electricity Commitments

Both the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had announced uninterrupted gas supply from 3:00 AM to 10:30 PM throughout Ramadan.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik assured that the government has finalized arrangements to maintain adequate gas pressure during Sahar and Iftar hours.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari confirmed that there will be no electricity load-shedding during Sahar and Iftar, directing the Power Division to ensure uninterrupted supply even in high-loss areas.

The city’s sole power supplier, K-Electric, released a special schedule for Ramadan, guaranteeing zero power outages during peak Sahar and Iftar hours.

The assurances come amid recurring energy supply challenges in Karachi during Ramadan. While utility companies promise uninterrupted service during critical times, residents continue to face disruptions and low pressure issues, underscoring ongoing infrastructure and load management concerns.
