The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 7, with India and Sri Lanka co-hosting the event.
This tournament will feature 20 teams competing across 55 matches, with the final set to take place in Ahmedabad, India, on March 8.
One of the major talking points ahead of the tournament is Pakistan’s choice not to play against India, which has generated considerable debate.

T20 World Cup 2026 Format and Super Eights Explained
The format for the 2026 edition follows the same structure as the 2024 tournament, which introduced the 20-team format.
Initially, the teams are divided into four groups of five. Each team will play every other team in its group once, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eights stage.
The Super Eights phase will take place from February 22 to March 1. Group 1 will include teams labeled X1, X2, X3, and X4, while Group 2 will consist of Y1, Y2, Y3, and Y4.
