Harman Singh Kapoor, the owner of London-based Indian restaurant Singh’s Dining, has appealed to the public for support after facing negative online reviews and a reported cyberattack following a controversial video about Gaza.

Kapoor, a Sikh restaurateur who operates the non-halal Indian restaurant, posted the video in late September.
The clip sparked criticism from pro-Palestinian social media users, who accused him of making light of the destruction and suffering in Gaza.
The controversy was followed by a wave of one-star reviews on the restaurant’s Google profile. Kapoor also said the restaurant’s website had crashed, disrupting online bookings.
Gaza Video Triggers Online Backlash
In the video, Kapoor held up a phone displaying an aerial image of a building marked with a red circle. The structure was identified in accompanying footage as Al-Qadisia Girls School, which Kapoor claimed was being used as an Israeli military base.
Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces, Kapoor questioned why the building was still standing in Gaza.

The remarks drew widespread criticism online. Some users said the video appeared to mock the destruction in Gaza, while others called for a boycott of the restaurant.
One social media user accused Kapoor of mocking the suffering of children in Gaza. Another user, who identified as Sikh, also criticised his remarks and urged people not to support his business.
The comments reflect reactions posted online and do not independently establish the circumstances surrounding the building shown in the video.
Owner Appeals for Help as Restaurant Faces Financial Pressure
On October 12, Kapoor released a video appeal asking the public to help keep Singh’s Dining operating.
He said the restaurant was facing mounting financial pressure, including outstanding rent and the threat of court proceedings by the landlord.
Kapoor also alleged that Google was accepting one-star reviews while genuine five-star reviews from customers were not being published. These claims have not been independently verified.
He urged people to book tables, visit the restaurant, share his appeal and leave honest reviews based on their own experiences.

Kapoor emphasised that Singh’s Dining was a non-halal restaurant, describing that identity as part of its business offering.
In a subsequent message, he confirmed that the restaurant’s website had crashed and rejected suggestions that the business was closing.
He said the restaurant would remain open until he personally announced otherwise and encouraged customers to visit in person.
Restaurant Remains Open Amid Controversy
The dispute has placed Singh’s Dining at the centre of an online debate involving the Gaza conflict, public criticism and the impact of social media campaigns on small businesses.
While critics have called for a boycott over Kapoor’s video, the restaurant owner is asking customers to support the business as he deals with financial and operational difficulties.
Kapoor has maintained that Singh’s Dining remains open. No confirmed closure date has been announced.
