The Pakistan Super League has confirmed major changes ahead of its 11th edition, signalling a new phase in the tournament’s evolution after completing a decade of cricket.

One of the most significant updates is the shift from the traditional player draft to a player auction model.

The new system is aimed at improving transparency, ensuring better competitive balance among teams, and offering players stronger earning opportunities.

Under the revised rules, each franchise will be allowed to retain up to four players, with only one player permitted in each category.

This marks a major change from previous seasons, where teams could retain as many as eight players and also use options such as mentors, brand ambassadors, and the Right to Match card.

All of these provisions have now been removed for PSL 11.

New teams joining the league will also be allowed to select and retain four players from the available pool before the auction takes place.

In another notable development, franchises will be permitted to directly sign one foreign player who did not take part in the previous edition, PSL X.

This move is expected to bring fresh international talent into the league.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also approved a significant increase in the player salary purse.

Each franchise will now have a budget of USD 1.6 million, underlining the league’s focus on rewarding players and attracting top domestic and overseas cricketers.

PSL 11 is set to begin on March 26, 2026, and Faisalabad has been confirmed as an additional venue for hosting matches.
