Pakistani-American businessman Fawad Sarwar has emerged as the owner of the Hyderabad franchise after successfully acquiring the team during the Pakistan Super League auction for two new teams.
The auction was held in Islamabad, where two additional teams were officially added to the PSL.

Fawad Sarwar, founder and owner of the US-based business group FKS, secured the seventh franchise with a winning bid of Rs. 175 crore and named the team after his hometown, Hyderabad.
Fawad Sarwar’s connection with Hyderabad runs deep.
The city, often referred to as the “city of winds,” is his ancestral home.
He and his sister were born and raised in Hyderabad and completed their early education there before moving abroad for higher studies.
He is currently based in Texas, United States.
Despite living overseas, Sarwar has maintained a strong bond with his roots.

Growing up in Hyderabad, he played cricket during his childhood and also watched Pakistan matches at the Niaz Stadium.
His love for the game has remained central to his journey as a sports entrepreneur.
Sarwar is the visionary founder of Kingsmen Sports and Enterprises and also owns the Chicago Kingsmen cricket team, which won the championship in 2024.
His primary business venture is FKS, under which he serves as President of several partner organizations, including FKS Aviation, ProCare Health, and Kingsmen Enterprise.
Speaking immediately after the successful bid, Fawad Sarwar announced that the team would represent Hyderabad.
He said the full name of the franchise had already been decided but would be revealed at a later stage.
He shared that both he and his sister were born in Hyderabad and that their family has longstanding ties with the city, making the decision deeply personal.
He explained that his goal was to give Hyderabad a place on cricket’s most prestigious domestic platform, a dream he said has now become a reality.

Describing himself as a cricket lover, Sarwar said he aims to take the sport to a global level and believes in treating players like family, which he considers the key to success.
On a lighter note, he invited attendees to visit Hyderabad, promising them the city’s famous rabri and its well-known spicy local cuisine, highlighting the cultural pride he associates with his hometown.
