On the occasion of the New Year ’s Eve, the Commissioner of Karachi has enforced Section 144 and imposed a ban on motorcycle pillion riding for the next two days.

According to the notification, the display of weapons, aerial firing, and driving vehicles without silencers have also been prohibited.

The use of fireworks and firecrackers has been banned; however, this restriction will not apply in designated areas where permission has been granted.

The Commissioner of Karachi has also directed authorities to strengthen security arrangements at Sea View in view of the expected large gathering of citizens.

The decision aims to stop the tragic loss of life from celebratory gunfire. Past years have seen injuries and deaths from stray bullets.
