Pakistan has voiced serious concern over threats against Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Asim Munir issued from United Kingdom (UK) soil, urging authorities to act against individuals accused of promoting violence through social media platforms, as reported by local media.

According to ARY News report, strong reservations were conveyed after videos circulated online showing protesters allegedly issuing death threats against the Chief of Defence Forces during demonstrations linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters in the UK.

Officials stated that the footage originated from the United Kingdom and was shared widely, raising alarm about the misuse of foreign soil for incitement and intimidation.

According to the news report, an extremely provocative video was posted on December 23, from a PTI UK affiliated account, later amplified by connected social media networks.

The video reportedly showed protestors making explicit threats, including remarks referencing car bombs, which officials say amount to open calls for violence during protests abroad.

Pakistan has demanded identification of those involved and legal action, stressing that such conduct violates international norms and endangers diplomatic relations between states seriously concern.

Legal experts note that threatening rhetoric may constitute offences under the UK Terrorism Act 2006, which criminalises encouragement of terrorism and violence activities.

The report also referenced United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1373, which obliges states to prevent terrorism, incitement, financing, and safe havens within their jurisdictions.

Pakistan reiterated its respect for freedom of expression but stressed that advocacy of violence crosses legal boundaries and cannot be justified as political dissent anywhere.
