According to the military’s statement, the trial involved detailed evidence, witness testimonies, and an extended legal process stretching across several months, eventually establishing the accused’s involvement in activities damaging to national security interests.
The court ruled that the actions attributed to the former officer, including the political engagement charge and alleged misuse of sensitive information, constituted serious misconduct warranting strict punishment under the Army Act’s disciplinary framework.

Authorities added that the convict still holds the legal right to appeal the sentence before a relevant forum, a step commonly available to individuals tried under the Pakistan Army Act’s judicial framework.
The institution further stated that additional matters concerning the former general, including alleged involvement in fostering political agitation alongside certain political elements, are being handled separately under ongoing inquiries and related legal procedures.
Officials said the developments mark one of the most high-profile disciplinary processes in recent military history, highlighting the institution’s approach toward internal accountability and actions considered detrimental to the state’s security environment.
