Following its successful implementation in Karachi, the Sindh police have approved the expansion of the Sindh e-challan system to six additional districts.

Officials stated that preparations are complete for introducing the Traffic Road Accident and Control System, known as TRACS, and installing enforcement cameras in selected districts for the first phase of the expansion.

The initial rollout will begin in Thatta, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Larkana. These districts were chosen due to traffic volume, road conditions, and the need for improved monitoring.

According to the DIG Traffic, divisional officers have confirmed that TRACS equipment and the camera network are ready. The system can detect number plate violations and record other traffic offenses automatically.

Once an offense is detected, challans will be issued electronically without any roadside interaction. Officials said this approach will help reduce corruption, ensure transparency, and promote safer driving habits.

Service centers have been established in all selected districts to support the new system. Training for operational staff is scheduled to begin soon under the supervision of TRACS specialists.

IG Memon instructed all DIGs to run extensive awareness campaigns before full implementation. He stressed the need to inform citizens about TRACS and how electronic challans will be issued.

He also directed officers to work with local administrations, media houses, and community groups to spread information about important safety rules, including wearing helmets, using seat belts, and installing legal number plates.
