The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has begun a major infrastructure upgrade at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi with the launch of a new state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower and a modern Rescue and Fire Fighting Station (RFFS).
The project aims to improve air traffic management, strengthen operational safety, and enhance emergency response at Pakistan’s busiest airport.

Officials said the design phase is expected to be completed within six months, followed by a construction period of 24 months.
The project will be executed by MM Pakistan in collaboration with Spain-based CEMOSA and Fairbanks Architects, bringing international expertise in airport planning and advanced Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) systems.
A four-day inception workshop at Jinnah International Airport gathered international aviation specialists, including senior architect Bruce Fairbanks and CNS/ATM expert Juan Cruz Cañabate.

The team worked closely with local aviation professionals to refine project requirements and review technical specifications.
After evaluating three potential sites, PAA finalized the locations for both the ATC Tower and the RFFS, ensuring they meet operational needs, safety standards, and long-term airport expansion plans.
This initiative reflects PAA’s commitment to modernizing critical aviation infrastructure in line with international standards and best practices.
