Following a dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the owner of Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen, has announced his decision to leave Multan Sultans, calling it the hardest choice of his career.
Tareen said being part of Multan Sultans was one of the greatest honours of his life, adding that representing South Punjab carried deep meaning for him and his late uncle Alamgir Tareen.

He recalled telling players and staff each season that they represented a hardworking region where people continued fighting daily challenges, insisting the supporters would forgive defeats but not any lack of effort or spirit.
To all Multan Sultans fans,

Being part of this team has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I love the fans, I love this team, and I absolutely love being able to represent South Punjab. Something my late uncle Alamgir Tareen was especially proud of.
Every season, I…
According to Tareen’s social media post, that mindset shaped the culture of Multan Sultans on and off the field, influencing team behaviour, professional standards, and community engagement throughout his tenure with the franchise.
He said that despite financial losses every season, he never considered leaving the team because Multan Sultans meant far more to him than financial numbers or short-term outcomes associated with league performance.

Tareen stated he has always spoken truthfully and directly, acknowledging he was not universally liked, but expressed pride in refusing to play safe or compromise on personal values during his time.
He added that if staying required abandoning his principles, then leaving the franchise was the only choice he could make, stressing that he preferred losing the team while standing firmly on his beliefs.
In his final goodbye note, Tareen reaffirmed that Multan Sultans belonged to the fans and the people of South Punjab, not merely to any individual owner or authority.

He urged supporters to continue backing the franchise with the same passion regardless of future ownership, promising he would remain in the stands cheering for the team he deeply loved.
His message concluded with gratitude and affection, saying that his identity as a PSL superfan would remain unchanged and his connection with the Multan Sultans community would continue beyond official responsibilities.
