The Sindh government recently unveiled plans to launch the second phase of the Pink Scooties Program, aimed at improving women’s mobility and providing safer transportation options across the province.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon encouraged women to obtain driving licenses, register early for training courses, and join registration programs so they could take full advantage of this initiative.
He noted that the Transport Department provides free driving training and licenses to women drivers, along with specially-designed scooters to assist students and working women who face daily transport difficulties.

Sharjeel Memon remarked that the first phase was met with tremendous enthusiasm from participants, with many women successfully completing training, receiving their licenses, and using Pink Scooties to navigate their daily commutes independently and confidently.
He stated the government hoped to expand the reach of this program so more women can safely pursue their education, professions and responsibilities without resorting to unsafe or unreliable transport options.

The provincial minister noted that recent transport projects, including People’s Bus Service, Pink Bus Service, and Electric Bus Service are all part of efforts to provide affordable and reliable mobility.
He noted that these initiatives demonstrate the government’s dedication to providing dignified commuting standards for residents, particularly women who may experience harassment, limited transportation options and unsafe commuting environments in urban environments.
Sharjeel Memon highlighted how women’s empowerment is a primary focus for the Sindh government and adheres to Pakistan People’s Party ideology and humanitarian efforts.

He stated that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto remains the inspiration behind the PPP’s ongoing work towards women’s independence, mobility and leadership across educational and professional fields.
The minister noted that the second phase of Pink Scooties Program will present further opportunities for women across Sindh to enhance their independence, safety and economic participation.
