On the night of 11/12 October 2025, Pakistan’s military launched a decisive counter-offensive in response to an unprovoked assault along its border with Afghanistan.

The attack, claimed to have initiated by Afghan militants and elements affiliated with the Indian-backed terror group Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), included a combination of small arms fire and physical raids aimed at destabilizing Pakistan’s border regions and enabling further terrorist activities.

According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s armed forces effectively repelled the assault, inflicting substantial casualties on the Taliban forces and their allies.

Exercising the right of self-defence, Pakistani troops conducted precision strikes against militant camps, terrorist training facilities, and support networks operating from Afghan territory.

These measures were taken to dismantle the infrastructure used by terrorist organizations, including Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), Fitna al Hindustan (FAH), and ISKP/Daesh.

The ISPR stressed that utmost care was taken to minimize collateral damage and avoid civilian casualties during these operations.

The military reported that during the overnight skirmishes, 23 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in the line of duty while defending the nation’s territorial integrity. An additional 29 soldiers sustained injuries, as per data released by ISPR.

In terms of enemy losses, over 200 Taliban and affiliated terrorists were neutralized in the operations, with a significantly higher number reported as injured, ISPR said.

The Pakistani military also briefly captured 21 hostile positions on the Afghan side of the border, destroying several militant camps and terrorist training facilities.

In its damage assessment, Pakistan’s military indicated widespread destruction of militant infrastructure, including posts, camps, and command centers, along the length of the shared border.

The strikes targeted both tactical and operational depths of militant-held areas, effectively crippling the ability of the insurgents to continue launching attacks against Pakistan.

In its statement, Pakistan’s military reiterated its firm resolve to protect the country’s territorial integrity, emphasizing that the armed forces remain on high alert to defend Pakistan from any external threats.

The ISPR also voiced concern over the timing of the attack, pointing out that it coincided with the visit of Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister to India – the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the region.

While the Pakistani government has consistently expressed a preference for diplomacy and dialogue, the military made it clear that Pakistan will not tolerate the use of Afghan soil for terrorist operations against its people.

The statement also called upon the Taliban government to take immediate and verifiable action to neutralize terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory, including FAK, FAH, and ISKP/Daesh.

The ISPR reaffirms Pakistan’s position that the Afghan regime is actively facilitating terrorist activities and destabilizing the region in cooperation with India.

Pakistan warned that unless Afghanistan takes concrete steps to end the sponsorship of terrorist groups, the country would continue to take decisive action to neutralize terror targets.

Pakistan urged the Afghan government to prioritize the peace, prosperity, and development of its people over destabilizing activities.
