The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the upcoming MDCAT 2025 will be conducted strictly on a domicile basis.

According to PMDC officials, candidates will be required to appear for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test in their own provinces.

To facilitate applicants, several universities have been assigned to organize the test, which includes:

  • IBA Sukkur will manage centers for Sindh
  • Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences will host candidates in Quetta
  • Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University will conduct the test in Islamabad for federal areas and students from multiple regions
  • An additional center in Islamabad will serve students from Sindh and Balochistan for their convenience.
  • Students from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take the exam in their respective provinces.

Applicants from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may appear at the Islamabad center, though their seats will be filled according to their regional quotas.

The PMDC stressed that possessing a valid domicile certificate is essential for admission to medical and dental colleges nationwide.

Officials highlighted that the domicile-based policy is intended to prevent misuse of regional seats and streamline the allocation of resources for aspiring medical students.

Earlier to this, the MDCAT 2025 schedule was revised because of heavy rains and flooding in several areas. Originally planned for October 5, the exam will now take place on Sunday, October 26, after consultations with provincial universities and stakeholders.

Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal endorsed the policy and new date, stating the measures protect merit and provide equal access for students across Pakistan.
