Sindh Wildlife Department rerooted the 150-year-old banyan tree at Qasr-e-Naz, which was uprooted after heavy monsoon rains in Karachi.
Deputy Conservator Sindh Wildlife Mumtaz Somroo confirmed that the banyan tree was completely uprooted. He said the department used special cranes and modern methods to straighten the tree.
Moreover, different medicines will be applied to assist the tree in regrowing. According to Sindh Wildlife, grafting will also support the banyan tree’s survival; however, further steps will ensure the roots remain moist and firmly connected to the ground.

A few months ago, in a move to protect the environment, the Sindh government decided to impose a complete ban on the production, sale, and use of plastic bags across the province, including Karachi.
According to the Sindh Environment Department, the ban will be officially enforced after approval from the provincial cabinet on April 15.
Once implemented, anyone found violating the ban will face legal action. This includes fines, arrest, and even prosecution, the department warned.
Officials say plastic bags are one of the main causes of pollution as they block sewage lines, pollute the ocean, and harm marine and wildlife.
The department stressed that stopping their use is essential for a cleaner and healthier Sindh.
