The Sindh government has approved the recruitment of 2,000 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) for the police investigation wing, aiming to strengthen law enforcement and improve the justice system, according to ARY News on Friday.

The decision was finalized in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, with Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Secretary Services, and other senior officials in attendance.

Chief Secretary Shah emphasized the importance of enhancing the investigative capacity of the police to build public confidence. “This initiative will enhance the police’s ability to conduct thorough investigations, ensure quicker justice, and help curb crime,” he stated. He directed concerned departments to eliminate delays in the recruitment process to ensure smooth and timely hiring.

IG Sindh also endorsed the move, noting that inducting 2,000 new ASIs will significantly improve the quality of investigations and enable stricter measures against criminal elements across the province.

In a related development, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh has issued an updated edition of its “Grey Book,” featuring the profiles of 81 most-wanted suspects. The list includes individuals involved in serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom, armed robberies, and police encounters.

Authorities confirmed that the updated Grey Book will be distributed among law enforcement agencies to accelerate the identification and arrest of dangerous criminals operating in Sindh.

The recruitment drive for ASIs, combined with updated intelligence measures, marks a significant step toward improving Sindh’s security environment and ensuring more effective policing.
