Pakistan has secured the 17th position among 101 countries in the World Giving Report 2025, highlighting its growing reputation as a generous nation even amid economic challenges.
The report, released by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), UK, in collaboration with the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP), evaluates countries based on three core indicators: helping a stranger, donating money, and volunteering time.
Pakistan performed well across all categories, particularly in individual donations relative to income.
“This is a moment of celebration for Pakistan, reflecting a strong culture of compassion and collective responsibility,” said Shazia Maqsood Amjad, Executive Director of PCP.
“Despite inflation and economic pressures, Pakistanis continue to support others not only financially, but through time and personal effort.”
The report credits Pakistan’s high ranking to deeply rooted traditions such as Zakat, community support, and informal aid, which serve as a critical social safety net.
PCP’s own research supports these findings, revealing substantial philanthropic involvement in sectors like health, education, disaster relief, and poverty reduction.
Globally, the report notes a continued trend of generosity despite uncertain economic times. Pakistan’s resilience in sustaining high levels of giving reflects the nation’s values and the vital role philanthropy plays in its social fabric.
PCP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening this culture through research, certification, and multi-sector partnerships.
It also emphasized the need for greater collaboration between civil society, the government, and private organizations to foster an inclusive and transparent giving environment.
