Pakistani rupee on Wednesday strengthen by Rs 0.21 against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 284.76 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 284.97.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 288.15 and Rs 288.60, respectively.
The price of the Euro strengthened by Rs 1.22 to close at Rs 334.41 against the last day’s closing of Rs 333.19, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Against the Japanese Yen, the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) depreciated by Rs 0.106 or 0.55 percent, closing the session at Rs 0.194 compared to Rs 193 a day earlier. Similarly, the PKR weakened against the Chinese Yuan by Rs 0.468 paisa or 0.12 percent, settling at Rs 0.397 from the previous Rs 0.397.
On a positive note, the local currency appreciated against the Saudi Riyal, gaining Rs 0.568 or 0.07 percent to close at Rs 0.759. It also rose by Rs 0.591 paisa or 0.08 percent against the UAE Dirham, ending the session at Rs 0.775.
Since the start of the current fiscal year, the PKR has depreciated by Rs 0.993 or 0.35 percent against the US Dollar. On a calendar year basis, the rupee has fallen by Rs 6.21 or 2.18 percent.
