The Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC) has released a list of residential buildings unsafe for living and has urged residents to vacate them immediately.

This action follows last week’s tragic building collapse in Lyari that claimed 27 lives and raised urgent concerns over structural safety across the city.

According to CBC officials, a total of 125 buildings were identified and declared unsafe for living during the first phase of a detailed survey aimed at locating dangerous structures within the cantonment’s jurisdiction.

The survey’s findings revealed 51 buildings in Delhi Colony, 16 in Madinabad, 7 in Lower Gizri, 5 in Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Colony, 14 in Punjab Colony, 27 in Pak Jumpur Colony, and 5 in Bakhshan Village, all declared unfit for residence.

Authorities warned that these structures pose a serious threat to life and property, especially with the start of the monsoon season, which increases the risk of collapse.

The CBC has issued evacuation notices to the owners and residents of the identified buildings, instructing them to leave immediately to avoid potential loss of life.

The move is part of a city-wide response to address the dangers of aging and neglected structures, highlighted by the recent Lyari incident.

CBC officials confirmed that more surveys and safety assessments are underway to identify additional at-risk buildings and to ensure public safety throughout the cantonment area.
