Karachi experienced 57 low-magnitude micro-earthquakes in June 2025, according to a notification issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh on June 27.
The data was shared by the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, confirming that the tremors were detected between June 1 and June 25 across Karachi East, West, South, Central, Malir, Keamari, and Korangi districts.
Officials confirmed the tremors were minor and not linked to any major earthquake threat. These micro tremors are considered normal in seismically active areas and are not unusual. The PDMA has advised citizens not to panic and to avoid spreading or believing unverified predictions or social media claims.
Residents were urged to rely only on official updates through the PMD’s verified communication channels. Authorities also warned that exaggerated or false claims could lead to unnecessary panic and confusion.
Deputy Commissioners and disaster management officials have been instructed to remain alert and take precautionary measures if needed. The PDMA continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure public safety.
