Pakistan’s diplomatic team reaches UK after ‘positive talks’ in US

A Pakistani diplomatic delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reached United Kingdom (UK) after a five-day visit to the United States (US) involving over several high-level meetings in Washington DC.

The nine-member delegation led by former foreign minister and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held over 50 high-level meetings in Washington and New York.

The delegation include Hina Rabbani Khar, Senator Sherry Rehman, Dr Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Tehmina Janjua, Bushra Anjum Butt and Syed Faisal Subzwari.

The focus of Pakistan’s delegation was to present its stance on regional peace, highlight India’s recent aggression, and raise concerns about provocations following the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJK).

Senator Sherry Rehman, part of the nine-member team, said US lawmakers understood Pakistan’s position and warned that “weaponisation of water” by India was a dangerous path that required urgent dialogue.

Rehman emphasized that the group was not reacting to India’s visit, saying, “Our story is our own,” while also warning that Pakistan would respond to further Indian attacks if provoked.

Faisal Subzwari said the tour began at the United Nations (UN), where Pakistan’s case was presented, especially the need for peace between nuclear powers to avoid regional instability and escalation.

He claimed that India was seeking global immunity for aggression without proof, and said Pakistan’s peaceful response earned respect and “diplomatic success” in international forums.

Khurram Dastgir Khan said the water issue was “life and death” for Pakistan, criticizing India for avoiding neutral inquiry and dialogue, which Pakistan had always supported for lasting peace.

Abbas Jilani stated that the ceasefire should lead to permanent peace, noting that Pakistan’s military response had shattered India’s false image as a stabilising power in South Asia.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari told US leaders that India started the war based on false claims and couldn’t win it, exposing its insecurity and undermining global trust in its leadership.
