Karachi Weather: Port city faces gusty winds amid heatwave in Sindh

Karachi weather

Karachi weather update issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) cautioned that gusty winds and dusty conditions would accompany intense heat across the province throughout the week.

During the first day of Eid on June 07, Karachi experienced a temperature of 38°C, with humidity levels climbing moderately and wind speeds hitting 30 km/h from the west-southwest direction during midday.

The PMD said that daytime temperatures in Karachi and much of Sindh will remain 4 to 6 degrees above normal, with very little chance of immediate relief or rainfall.

Coastal areas may experience partly cloudy skies, but hot and dry conditions will dominate, while dust storms in open districts could reduce visibility and worsen air quality.

Officials attributed the current heatwave to a strong high-pressure system and prevailing continental air, which are expected to keep weather systems stable for the next five days.

In upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a shallow westerly trough might bring light changes during the evening and night, but Sindh, including Karachi, remains dry and intensely hot.

Authorities urged the public to take necessary precautions, stay indoors during peak heat hours, and remain hydrated as high temperatures may persist through the coming weekend and beyond.

The Karachi weather heatwave remains in effect as PMD continues to monitor conditions closely and advises residents to follow official advisories during this extreme weather phase.
