India deports disabled Karachi teen without medical treatment

India deports disabled Pakistani teen

Indian authorities deported a disabled youth from Karachi, Ayan, without completing his urgent medical treatment in Delhi.

The sixteen-year-old Ayan had traveled to Delhi in March with his father, brothers, uncle, and cousins to seek specialized care after being paralyzed from a bullet injury in Karachi.

After crossing the Attari border on March 27, Ayan was admitted to Delhi’s Indraprastha Hospital, where he began receiving critical treatment under Dr Sudhir Kumar.

However, shortly after India’s sudden border closure announcement, authorities ordered Ayan to leave the country immediately, without completing his necessary medical procedures.

His family, devastated by the abrupt action, returned to Karachi, where the family members revealed that Ayan’s mother and aunt, who hold an Indian passport, were stopped from accompanying her son back to Pakistan.

According to family members, Ayan’s mother had migrated to Karachi 16 years ago after her marriage, but she retained her Indian nationality and had a valid visa for travel.

Ayan’s family revealed that Indian officials subjected them to further screening and inquiries, causing emotional trauma during an already difficult time.

For now, Ayan remains in Karachi, with his family desperately seeking alternative options to continue his treatment at home country.
