NHCR urges Pakistan’s FM to repatriate four children from India

The Head of the National Commission for Child Rights (NCRC) has written a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan, appealing for immediate measures to bring back four Pakistani children currently in India.

The NCRC has requested intervention in the case of these children and urged legal action in accordance with the law. The appeal follows a letter from a child rights activist who highlighted the plight of Ghulam Haider’s children, taken to India by their mother without the father’s consent.

According to the letter, Ghulam Haider’s wife took their four children to India via Nepal. The letter also mentions that Seema Haider, the mother, married a Hindu man without obtaining a divorce from her first husband. Concerns have been raised about the children being forcibly converted to another religion.

Seema Haider is currently facing legal proceedings in India. The letter questions the future care of the children if she is convicted. The NCRC has called for support and protection for Ghulam Haider’s children and has urged the Pakistani government to take steps to ensure their safe return.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to respond to the NCRC’s appeal.
