The parents of seven-year-old Sarim, who was murdered in North Karachi, have threatened to stage protests until justice is served.
Expressing their frustration, they questioned the authorities, asking, “Who should we turn to? Whose door should we knock on?” It has been 55 days since Sarim’s tragic death, yet the perpetrator remains at large.
His father, speaking to the media outside Baitul Anam Apartment, recounted that Sarim went missing on January 7, and his body was discovered in a water tank on January 18.
Despite an FIR being lodged, no arrests have been made in a building that houses 200 residents.
During a press conference, the grieving parents criticized the police for their lack of progress in the investigation.
They vowed to take their protest to the Karachi Press Club (KPC) and the Governor House if justice was delayed any further.
Sarim’s mother pleaded with higher authorities, stating that they had exhausted all efforts, yet the murderer remained free. “We have had enough. We need support,” she said.
The father further revealed that while postmortem, DNA tests, and chemical examinations had been conducted, they had only been provided with a copy of the FIR and no further updates.
He lamented that investigative committees were being formed but had yet to contact them. “If our child was alive for five days, where was he? Why can’t the police find the killer?” he asked.
Demanding swift justice, Sarim’s parents insisted that the murderer be brought to light to prevent such a tragedy from happening to any other child.
They criticized the police for contradicting their own statements and called for a transparent investigation.
