Karachi customs destroy seized smuggled goods worth Rs 4.44 bln

Pakistan customs – Karachi division destroyed the seized contraband and smuggled goods worth Rs 4.44 billion.

A large-scale destruction ceremony took place under Pakistan Customs Enforcement in Karachi, attended by Rangers and police officers.

During the event, over 5,000 kilograms of drugs, valued at more than Rs 2.63 billion, were burned.

Other contraband items destroyed included 26,000 bottles of smuggled liquor worth Rs 487 million, 500,000 kilograms of harmful chewing gum worth Rs 446 million, and 27,000 kilograms of Indian gutka valued at Rs 332.8 million.

Additionally, 47,460 kilograms of harmful betel nut, worth Rs 462 million, 32,000 kilograms of Chinese salt (Ajinomoto) worth Rs 392 million, and 101,000 cartons of branded cigarettes worth Rs 362.87 million were also burned.

Other items destroyed included 1,870 kilograms of snuff worth Rs 92.40 million, 1,400 kilograms of shisha flavor worth Rs 61.40 million, prohibited expired medicines worth Rs 57.70 million, cosmetics and toiletries valued at Rs 206.87 million, and expired food and beverage products worth Rs 2 million.
