Pakistan join China’s Chang’e Mission for 2028 lunar exploration

Pakistan’s space agency, Suparco, has announced a historic partnership with China for the 2028 Chang’e 8 mission to explore the south pole of the moon.

As part of this collaboration, Pakistan will contribute a 35-kilogram rover, which will land on the lunar surface during the mission.

Suparco’s spokesperson confirmed the partnership, stating that Pakistan’s rover will be an integral part of China’s ambitious lunar research plans.

The Chang’e 8 mission, slated for 2028, will focus on groundbreaking exploration of the moon’s south pole, a region believed to hold valuable scientific data and resources.

This announcement comes after the successful launch of China’s Chang’e mission to the moon on May 3, which carried Pakistan’s first satellite, I-Cube Qamar.

The satellite orbited the moon and sent back rare images, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space exploration efforts.

The participation in the Chang’e 8 mission will further bolster Pakistan’s presence in space exploration, particularly in lunar research, alongside China’s growing space program.
