Karachi authorities prepare for major crackdown on drug suppliers in educational institutions

In a significant move to address the growing concern of drug abuse within educational institutions, authorities in Karachi have completed preparations for a comprehensive crackdown on drug suppliers operating in these establishments.

In a concerted effort to curb the menace of drug trafficking, detailed district-wise lists of educational institutions and identified drug suppliers have been meticulously compiled. These lists contain crucial information, including the names and mobile numbers of individuals suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and supply activities.

In a bid to provide a comprehensive understanding of the extent of the issue, the lists are further supplemented with the criminal records of most of the identified drug dealers. This comprehensive data aims to facilitate effective law enforcement efforts and ensure that the crackdown is both targeted and impactful.

According to a recent report, the prevalence of drug-related activities is alarmingly high in certain districts. In the South District alone, a staggering 12 groups of drug dealers are reported to be active within educational institutions. Similarly, in the Malir district, three major groups have been identified as operating in close proximity to educational establishments.

Disturbingly, the report highlights that even within the premises of government schools, illicit drug trafficking has found a foothold. One family is allegedly using houses located within government school premises in Korangi to facilitate their drug supply operations. Meanwhile, Lyari, a historically significant area of the city, is facing the challenge of three significant drug gangs operating within both public and private educational institutions.

The issue is not confined to specific districts. In the central district, five groups are reportedly involved in selling drugs near educational institutions, while in the eastern district, a formidable group comprising over 30 accused individuals is believed to be engaged in the supply of drugs to students.

In response to this pressing issue, authorities have convened an important police meeting scheduled for Friday. This meeting is anticipated to pave the way for a grand operation that will span across the province. The concerted effort is aimed at not only apprehending and bringing to justice those responsible for facilitating drug trafficking within educational institutions but also creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for students.

As Karachi takes proactive measures to address this critical challenge, the upcoming operation is poised to send a clear message that drug-related activities within educational institutions will not be tolerated. The collective determination to create a drug-free educational landscape reflects a commitment to nurturing a healthy and prosperous future for the city’s youth.
