Consumers facing problems with mobile networks, internet services, billing or other telecom-related matters are advised to approach their service provider first. If the issue remains unresolved or the response is unsatisfactory, they can escalate the complaint to PTA through its Complaint Management System (CMS).

The process allows consumers to formally report service-related concerns and seek assistance from the telecom regulator.

Step 1: Contact Your Telecom Operator

Consumers should first contact their respective telecom service provider through one of its available channels, including:

  • Customer care centres
  • Helplines
  • Official websites
  • Mobile applications
  • Service centres

Customers should explain the issue clearly and provide all relevant information to help the operator investigate the matter.

Step 2: Explain the Complaint Clearly

When submitting a complaint, consumers should describe the nature of the problem and provide relevant details.

For example, complaints may relate to poor network coverage, internet connectivity, incorrect billing, unexpected deductions or other service-related issues.

Providing accurate information can help the service provider understand and investigate the complaint.

Step 3: Obtain a Complaint Reference Number

Consumers should obtain a complaint or reference number after registering their issue with the telecom operator.

They should also note the date and time of submission and keep any confirmation messages or other relevant records.

The reference number can be used to follow up with the service provider and is important if the complaint needs to be escalated to PTA.

Step 4: Allow Time for Resolution

Consumers should give their telecom operator a reasonable period to investigate and resolve the issue.

Under the Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations, operators are required to address complaints within the prescribed timeframe. If the complaint remains unresolved or the consumer is dissatisfied with the response, the matter can be referred to PTA.

Step 5: Escalate the Complaint to PTA

If the telecom operator fails to resolve the issue, consumers can submit a complaint through PTA’s Complaint Management System.

The complaint should include the reference number issued by the service provider, a clear explanation of the issue and the relevant personal information requested by the system.

Consumers should ensure that the information provided is accurate and that any supporting evidence is relevant to the complaint.
