Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House in Karachi, with the two leaders discussing the prevailing political situation and recent developments in the country.

According to reports, the meeting focused on the latest political developments and other matters of mutual interest, meanwhile the details of the discussion were not publicly disclosed.
The meeting comes amid continued political discussions involving the federal government, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other political stakeholders.
Mohsin Naqvi had also met President Zardari previously, including during the president’s visit to London earlier this month.
Reports at the time said the two discussed matters of national importance and developments on the political front.
The latest meeting also comes after Naqvi’s remarks about the need for changes to Pakistan’s governance structure sparked political debate.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari subsequently said that the issue of creating new provinces should be debated in Parliament.
Earlier, PPP MNA Ramesh Kumar said his party had “nothing to worry” as long as Mohsin Naqvi remained in contact with the PPP.
In an interview with local media, Kumar linked his assessment to what he described as the close relationship between President Zardari and the interior minister.
Kumar also claimed that “powerful circles” were unhappy with the PPP, but said the party was not concerned as long as communication with Naqvi continued.
The PPP lawmaker further criticised what he described as complacency within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), while saying the PPP had shown flexibility in dealing with the prevailing political situation.
These remarks represented Kumar’s assessment and were not presented as an official statement by the PPP leadership or the presidency.
Earlier reports also noted differences within the political leadership over Naqvi’s comments on governance reforms and the creation of new provinces. PPP leaders have publicly responded to those remarks, while Naqvi has maintained his position on governance reform.
The Presidency did not disclose details of Tuesday’s conversation between Zardari and Naqvi beyond confirming discussions on the political situation and matters of mutual interest.
