The meeting focused on several issues related to social media and digital engagement, including youth engagement, responsible social media use, online child safety and Meta’s Teen Accounts.
The participants also discussed opportunities for greater collaboration between global technology platforms and stakeholders in Pakistan.
Sindh Home and Law Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar, Education Minister Sardar Shah, Chief Minister’s Advisor on Information Technology Ali Rashid, and MPA Barrister Sheraz Shaukat Rajper also attended the meeting.
It is worth noting here that, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is preparing to take action against WhatsApp accounts registered on inactive, cancelled or unused mobile numbers and has issued an alert to users.
According to details, the telecom regulator has begun preparations to block WhatsApp accounts linked to mobile numbers that are no longer active or in use.
The PTA said inactive mobile numbers are being misused to operate WhatsApp accounts for fraud, scams and other illegal activities, prompting the authority to take action.
The regulator has directed telecom operators to ensure that WhatsApp accounts remain linked to active and currently valid mobile numbers.
