The Sindh Department of College Education has announced revised timings for government colleges across the province, with the new schedule for morning and evening shifts coming into effect from August 1, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the department, government colleges operating in morning and evening shifts will follow separate schedules from the new academic timetable.
Under the revised schedule, morning-shift colleges will remain open from 8:30am to 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday.
On Friday, morning-shift classes will end at 11:30am.
For colleges operating in the evening shift, classes will begin at 3:00pm and continue until 7:00pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday.
On Friday, evening-shift colleges will operate from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.
The College Education Department has directed principals and administrative staff of government colleges to ensure strict implementation of the revised timings.
Alongside the revised timings, the Sindh College Education Department has also imposed a ban on the use of tobacco and narcotics across government colleges in Karachi.
The ban covers cigarettes, vapes, nicotine pouches, paan and gutka on college premises.

According to the department’s notification, the ban is effective immediately, and college administrations have been instructed to ensure that campuses remain free from tobacco products and drugs.
College principals have been directed to strictly enforce the restrictions and take necessary measures to prevent violations.
The department has also written to deputy commissioners, asking them to take steps to prevent the sale of tobacco products and narcotics in areas surrounding government colleges.
