Karachi Traffic Police has released a comparative review of traffic accidents recorded between January 1 and June 17 in 2025 and 2026, highlighting a notable decline in accidents, fatalities and injuries across the city.

According to the statistics, 313 fatal traffic accidents were reported during the period from January 1 to June 17, 2026, compared to 447 cases recorded during the same period in 2025. This reflects a 30 per cent decrease in fatal accidents.

The data further shows that 339 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the first five and a half months of 2026, compared to 477 deaths recorded during the corresponding period last year. This represents a 29 per cent reduction in fatalities.
In terms of injuries, 574 people were injured in traffic accidents during the period under review in 2026, while 886 people were injured during the same period in 2025. As a result, the number of injuries declined by 35 percent.

The review also highlighted a significant reduction in accidents involving heavy vehicles. According to the statistics, 78 such accidents were reported in 2026, compared to 154 incidents during the same period last year, marking a 49 per cent decrease.
Karachi Traffic Police attributed the positive trend to its effective strategy, the establishment of KRAAT, strict enforcement of traffic laws, improved monitoring and various road safety measures.

The traffic police urged citizens to comply fully with traffic regulations, maintain safe speeds, avoid overspeeding, follow lane discipline, wear helmets and seat belts, and exercise caution while driving to help protect human lives.
