Pakistan is preparing to introduce a new verification condition for pensioners under a proposed nationwide digital pension system linked with National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Under the proposed mechanism, pensioners may no longer need traditional paperwork or repeated in-person visits for verification.

Instead, pensioners would confirm their “proof of life” digitally through the Pak ID mobile application operated by NADRA.
Officials said commercial banks would verify pension eligibility directly through NADRA-linked systems before releasing monthly pension payments.

According to officials, nearly 1.7 million pensioners across Pakistan could eventually become part of the new digital verification network, making it one of the country’s largest integrated pension authentication systems.
Officials believe the digital verification model could help reduce pension fraud, remove fake or duplicate beneficiaries, improve transparency, and speed up pension payments.

The system is also expected to reduce manual paperwork and simplify the verification process for elderly pensioners.
