Official crime data of Karachi revealed a sharp 28 percent rise in mobile phone snatching, with cases climbing from 1,265 in March to 1,624 in April 2026.
Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Karachi released the crimes data for the month of April which shows worrying trend as street crimes continue to challenge city authorities.

Mobile phone snatching cases increased from 1,265 incidents in March to 1,624 cases in April 2026. The figures show an increase of 359 incidents within one month, reflecting a sharp rise in street crime involving mobile phones.
Two-wheeler snatching incidents rose from 440 cases in March to 469 in April. However, motorcycle theft cases declined from 3,027 incidents in March to 2,723 cases in April, showing a reduction of 304 cases.

Four-wheeler theft cases dropped from 140 in March to 111 in April. Meanwhile, car snatching incidents increased from 17 to 22 during the same period.
Homicide cases slightly declined from 44 incidents in March to 42 in April. Extortion complaints, however, increased from six to nine cases.

Kidnapping for ransom cases remained unchanged at one incident in both months, meanwhile, no bank robbery or dacoity case was reported during March or April 2026.
