The Government of Sindh has stepped up efforts to enforce the transgender job quota and improve access to public services, following a high-level consultative meeting held in Karachi.
The meeting was chaired by Sukhdev Hemnani, who also serves as a member of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, and included representatives from the transgender community and civil society.

Participants included Nisha Rao, Chandani Shah from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Aradhiya Khan, and representatives from the Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA).
The discussion focused on removing practical barriers and ensuring implementation of existing policies aimed at inclusion and equal opportunity.
Officials reiterated that Sindh remains the first province to allocate a 0.5 percent job quota for the transgender community. Hemnani directed all departments to ensure strict enforcement and compliance.

The meeting also reviewed plans to establish transgender facilitation desks at district levels to improve access to government services and strengthen complaint redressal systems.
Progress on the transgender education policy, approved by the Sindh cabinet, was also assessed. The policy aligns with the inclusive vision promoted by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Public health outreach, particularly HIV awareness, prevention, and treatment, was identified as a priority area requiring expansion to support vulnerable groups.

Community representatives highlighted issues faced during registration under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
In response, the Sindh government assured that procedural hurdles would be addressed to ensure eligible individuals can access financial support without difficulty.
