The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a major reform in the arms license renewal system, allowing licences to remain valid for a full five years from the date of issuance or last renewal.

According to the officials, the updated policy has been implemented on the directives of the Ministry of Interior to facilitate citizens and ensure they can fully benefit from the complete validity period.

Under the revised system, arms licences will now expire exactly five years after the issuance or renewal date, replacing the previous blanket expiry deadline applied nationwide.

Earlier, all federally issued licences expired on December 31 each year, which forced licence holders to renew them regardless of when the licence was originally issued.
