Pakistan, India set for showdown in West Asia Baseball Cup 2025

Pakistan India baseball match

The high-voltage match between Pakistan and India is set to be one of the most anticipated clashes at the West Asia Baseball Cup 2025, drawing major attention from fans and media across South Asia.

The West Asia Baseball Cup 2025 is set to kick off in Karaj, Iran, from May 15 to 22, with national teams from Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Palestine competing for regional glory and a spot in the Asian Baseball Championship in China this November.

The stakes are high, as the top two teams from the Karaj tournament will earn qualification for the Asian Championship, which also serves as a pathway to the Baseball World Cup.

Among the most awaited fixtures is the Pakistan vs India clash, a classic rivalry that promises to draw widespread attention from fans and media across South Asia.

Despite the excitement, the Pakistan national baseball team faces serious logistical hurdles.

Secretary General Syed Fakhar Ali Shah voiced concern over the team’s ability to participate at full strength due to financial constraints, particularly airfare costs.

“We are fully capable of defeating India if we can take our full-strength 24-player squad. We hope to secure strong sponsorship or government support soon,” he said, stressing the urgency of the situation.

The national team’s performance in Iran will not only reflect their on-field abilities but also the state of sports funding in Pakistan, where non-mainstream sports like baseball often struggle to gain attention and resources.

With just two weeks left, Pakistan’s qualification hopes hang in the balance — not just on the pitch, but also in boardrooms where funding decisions must be made.
