Karachi strong winds

Karachi is expected to see light fog on Wednesday morning, while irregular strong winds are likely to hit the metropolis for the next two days – today and tomorrow, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The department forecasted that the weather is expected to remain dry and cool in the port city for the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 12.5°C on Tuesday, while the mercury is expected to drop further during the next 24 hours, while the humidity in the air was recorded at 52 percent.

The meteorologist had said that the cold westerly winds might pave the way for rainfall in different parts of the country and snowfall on mountains.

Last week, Karachi was reportedly experiencing a surge in skin diseases due to cold weather and polluted air with 3,000 to 4,000 patients visiting the outpatient department (OPD) daily.

According to Dr. Abdullah Yahya, Additional Director at a private hospital, common conditions being reported include scabies, psoriasis, and eczema.

The dry and cold weather is aggravating symptoms like itching, small rashes, and red spots on the skin, the doctor said.

Dr. Yahya advises citizens to use cold creams to keep their skin moisturized and clarifies that the conditions are not contagious.
