The postmortem report of Sonia, the elephant who passed away last month at Safari Park, have been emerged, revealing the cause of death.
According to Ali Hassan Sajid, spokesperson for the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality, the postmortem was conducted by a pathologist from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore.
The report confirmed that Sonia’s death was caused by respiratory disease and sepsis in the lung tissues, along with abscesses.
In response, a thorough medical examination is being conducted on the remaining two elephants at Safari Park, with consultation from international experts.
To prevent similar issues, immediate measures are being taken to protect the elephants from germs and infections.
Additionally, tests are being conducted on the park’s staff members who care for the elephants. Authorities are also working with international experts to improve the overall care of animals at both Safari Park and Karachi Zoo.
