At least one person has died and 24 others sustained injuries in a severe road accident on the Super Highway in Karachi, as per media reports.
The media reports quoting rescue sources, asserted that the collision involved five vehicles, including two cars, a trailer, and two buses, adding that the crash was caused by speeding, which led to one of the buses overturning on the highway.
Rescue teams have transported the injured to nearby hospitals for immediate medical assistance.
In 2024, a total of 771 people have lost their lives, and 8,014 others have been injured in accidents across Karachi, according to a report released by the Chhipa Foundation.
As per the report, the fatalities include 601 men, 88 women, 61 children, and 21 girls, meanwhile, the injured consist of 6,714 men, 1,064 women, 290 children, and 79 girls.
The released figures show an alarming rise in fatal traffic accidents in Karachi.
The Chhipa Foundation also reported the number of traffic accidents for each month in 2024.
According to Chhipa report, January recorded the highest number of accidents with 69, followed by 51 in February and 32 in March. In April 51 accidents were reported, and 39 occurred in May.
