The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast severe cold weather in Karachi for Sunday and Monday, December 29 and 30, due to a significant drop in temperatures.
According to the Early Warning Center of the PMD, the minimum temperature in the city could fall to as low as 8°C on both days.
Additionally, easterly and northeasterly winds are expected to blow, contributing to dry and cold weather conditions.
The cold wave is affecting various districts across Sindh, with night temperatures expected to be 3 to 5 degrees lower in many areas, while fog is also anticipated in the upper and central districts during the morning hours.
PMD reported that Karachi experienced its coldest night of the year, with the official weather station recording a temperature of 8.5°C. In Gulistan-e-Jauhar, temperatures dropped even further to 6.5°C.
The lowest recorded temperature in Karachi on December 14, 1986, was 1.3°C.
