Traffic police introduced a 24/7 helpline to assist residents navigating the city amid ongoing protests by the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) across several locations in Karachi.
The protests, which have been ongoing for over three days, have led to road closures and severe traffic disruption.
Sub-Inspector Ilyas Siyal explained that four dedicated phones are being used to provide real-time updates and advise drivers on which routes are blocked and offer alternative paths.
To ease the situation, the traffic police have set up a round-the-clock operation at their 1915 helpline and landline 021 99216355-56-57-58 for assistance in navigation.
The protests, held at 12 locations across Karachi, are primarily in response to the Parachinar situation.
The demonstrations have caused major roads to close, including MA Jinnah Road at Numaish Chowrangi, Abul Hasan Ispahani Road near Abbas Town, Five-Star Chowrangi, and University Road from Metro Shopping Center to Nipa Chowrangi.
Other closures include parts of Shahrah-e-Faisal and National Highway near Malir 15 Bridge.
In response, traffic diversions have been put in place to help commuters.
Routes from Malir, Korangi, and Clifton to the airport have been redirected through Sanghar Chowrangi, Shah Faisal Colony, and other areas.
Traffic from Pehlwan Goth can use Karsaz, Drig Road, and Johar Chowrangi.
Other diversions include Power House Chowrangi to Service Road and Incholi Shahrah-e-Pakistan towards Sohrab Goth.
Commuters are advised to stay updated on changing traffic conditions before traveling.
