In collaboration with the Sindh Rangers, the Anti-Theft Cell of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) conducted multiple operations on Sunday and dismantled 11 illegal hydrants in Karachi.
During a large-scale crackdown on water theft, the KWSC team confiscated 15 water tankers and nine tractor trolleys used to transport the stolen water.
The operation targeted areas notorious for water theft, including Manghopir, Chakra Goth, Korangi, Hub Canal, and Altaf Nagar near the Northern Bypass.
According to the officials, the seized tankers and trolleys were found illegally extracting water from the Hub Canal and reselling it at high prices across the city, contributing to Karachi’s water scarcity issues.
In Chakra Goth, Korangi, the authorities disconnected key pipelines linked to the illegal hydrants, specifically lines 48 and 33, to prevent future theft.
The KWSC and Sindh Rangers stressed their commitment to ongoing operations to curb water theft, a critical issue affecting residents throughout Karachi.
